Article Query Letters: Five Tips from Bo’s Interviews

  1. Read the publication to get a sense of what the editor likes. Do this before you submit a query letter.
  2. Tell the editor why she needs your article.
  3. Tell the editor what will be in your article.
  4. Tell the editor why YOU are the right person to write the article.
  5. GRAB the editor’s attention andĀ convince her to read your article.

    What about reading the publications writers’ guidelines? Most are printed online or they can email or mail a copy.

      I assumed that writers know that they should read the guidelines but maybe some don’t know this. Thanks for your comment — I appreciate it!
